SNMP Check

• SNMP trapreceiver can do OID lookups even for OIDs that are not directly within the OID database (check for parent OIDs)
• SNMPv3 - The Servers Alive SNMP GET check is enhanced with SNMPv3 (authentication and privacy) support.
• OID lookup - The Servers Alive trap receiver can do a lookup of the received OID within our mib database and give a more meaningfull description of the received trap.
• Value lookup - The Servers Alive SNMP GET check can do lookup of the received result withon our mib datbase and give a more meaningfull description of the received result
• Rules - The SNMP GET check can combine (AND/OR) two rules before giving an UP or DOWN status
• Formula - The SNMP GET check can not only compare to a fixed value but is now also able to use formula's.

Enhancements to other checks

• RTSP stream checking can check a password protected stream (basic authentication)
• SSL certificate check - The HTTP/HTTPS check has been enhanced with an SSL certificate validity test
• URL check proxy support - Support has been added for Socks 4, Socks 4a, Socks 5 and relay proxy for the HTTP(S) URL checks.
• URL content check - You have more control on the way we check the content within a webpage.
• Perfmon check with formula's - The perfmon check can not only compare to a fixed value but also to a formula
• Oracle 10g support

Protocols

• Linger option for TCP protocol checks - Keeps to TCP connection active for a longer period, this is needed for some unix variants
• DNS check enhancement - Within the DNS protocol checks that you can define, you can set what string (result) you should not get back from the DNS server, this can be usefull when check spam-databasses.

Output

• Enhanced control for the sa_alerts tag
• SAIF tag can do more - The SAIF tag can now also use the checkresponse to compare to.
• More sort options for the HTML template based output

Logging

• RRD logging of the check result - The RRD logging has been extended to include the check result

Folgende Neuerungen sind in diesem Upgrade enthalten:

• Schneller beim Laden der Hostfile und beim Entfernen von Einträgen.
• Auswahl on TTP/1.0 oder HTTP/1.1beim URL check (Standard ist HTTP/1.0)
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DBU Consulting\Servers Alive\Paging\MaxRedials (string) SMS wird Standardmäßig einen 2ten Sendeversuch starten, dieser kann manuell bis auf 10 Wiederholungen erhöht werden.
• Neuer HTML tags <sa_threshold_num>, <sa_checkresponse_num>, <sa_roundtrip_num>, <sa_stats_minrtrip_num>, <sa_stats_maxrtrip_num>, <sa_stats_avgrtrip_num>
  <sa_rrd_roundtrip_graphname>,<sa_rrd_checkresult_graphname> beinhaltet den Namen der RRD Grafik dieSA generieren könnte.
• SAIF kann auch SA_PRETTYNAME als Parameter verwenden
• Der SOA DNS check liefert die Meldung "Server authority for domain" oder "Server not authority for domain" abhängig davon wie der Server den Sie kontrollieren im DNS Protokol definiert ist (ctrl-P)
• Es wurde der SRV record type zum DNS check hinzugefügt und meldet den 'svr hostname' der angegebenen Domäin
• Der SNMP check kann nun auch die Ergebnisse in Hex konvertieren. (Jedes Zeichen wird durch einen 2Byte HEX Wert ersetzt der den ASCII Wert wiederspiegelt )
• Der check von Prozessen ist “Case Sensitive” Dies kann wie folgt geändert werden: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DBU Consulting\Servers Alive\StartUp\ProcessnameCaseInsensitive (dword) mit Wert 1.
• Neuer telnet/ssh commandINCHECKCYCLE
  Mögliche Meldung: YES/NO
  (Falls SA beschäftigt ist einen Kontrollcyklus zu fahren dann ist die meldung “YES” ansonsten “NO”)
• HTTP(S) GET kann ebenfalls als Alarmmeldung verwendet werden

• HTTP/HTTPS Kontrollen können in einer Datei zum Bearbeiten gespeichert werden.

•  Die meisten SMS Anbieter limitieren die Anzahl der Umlaute in einer Nachricht. Sie können SA dazu wie folgt einstellen:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DBU Consulting\Servers Alive\Paging\SpliLongMessage (string) Wert 1 -> Nachrichten mit einer Anzahl von Zeichen über dem Maximum werden in mehrere Nachrichten aufgeteilt.Wert 0 ->Nachrichten mit einer Anzahl von Zeichen über dem Maximum werden auf die MaxMessageSize gekürzt)
  
  
  Fixes
  Die wichtigsten:

• Als Reaktion auf den Sicherheits Bericht CAN-2005-0352 wurde die F1 Funktion entfernt sofern SA als Service läuft.
• Der COM check wurde Komplett Neu geschrieben um Abstürze zu verhindern und verwendet nun auch weniger Resourcen.
  
  Alle weiteren:
   
• Die Option Save Changes at exit was not triggered by a change that SA makes to the externalCOM check parameters.
• The user running the app/service needs to have a TEMP directory and have write access to it, for the system user this can be a problem. That's why the URL check will now create a file within the same directory as the serversalive.exe file and this file is called "_temp_for_url.tmp"
• When trying to move the first alert above itself there was a runtime error and after that a crash of SA.
• We can see a theoretical way of getting Servers Alive external COM check into a loop, this should now be fixed.
• Due to a typo the time-limited registration codes didn't work.
• Some issues with the URL check when there was a timeout after the 302 redirect
• Some issues with the URL check when a cookie was send within a 401 (access denied) frame.
• The menu to add an executive alert did show a "command" but selecting it did nothing.
• During a check cycle we could get a runtime error 91 - fixed for several unrelated cases with the same error
• Timing issue during the FTP + SSL upload, causing the connection to be made but the file wasn't uploaded.
• The SMTP mail sender uses the local hostname and hostdomain when sending the HELO/EHLO command to the remote server. On NT4 systems the standard APIs we're using to get the hostname/hostdomain don't work correctly. Therefore we decided that IF for some reason the HELO/EHLO logic that we're using results in an empty "name" that we will use SAHOST.DOMAIN.COM when sending the HELO/EHLO command to the (remote) SMTP server.
• If the an "nt service name + display name" was longer then 128 double bytes then the listing/checking of a service on that system (even one with a short name) would hang.
